Women should replace tea with coffee when going to the office if they want to outperform their male colleagues.
The caffeine in coffee is a stimulant that can affect the brain, helping to fight sleepiness and fatigue. Some scientists from the University of Bristol in the UK wanted to study the effects of coffee on the body when a person is tired, especially when someone drinks a lot of coffee during stressful meetings, according to Telegraph.

They recruited 64 volunteers to conduct an experiment. The volunteers were divided into 32 same-gender pairs. The research team assigned each pair several tasks to complete—such as negotiating terms in a commercial contract, solving puzzles, or memorizing objects.
To increase pressure on the volunteers, the experts told all 64 participants they would have to present in front of an audience about the methods they used to complete the tasks.
The researchers gave each pair two types of coffee, one of which was caffeine-free, to drink while performing the tasks. They then monitored the volunteers’ performance.
The results showed that the accuracy, speed, and thinking ability of men who drank caffeinated coffee significantly decreased. For example, their puzzle-solving time was at least 20 seconds longer than those who drank caffeine-free coffee. The same effect did not occur with other men.
On the contrary, women who drank caffeinated coffee completed the tasks faster and more accurately after drinking caffeinated coffee. For instance, compared to women who drank caffeine-free coffee, their puzzle-solving time was at least 100 seconds shorter.
In an article published in the journal Applied Social Psychology, the research team stated that drinking a lot of coffee during stressful and important meetings is not a good idea, especially for men.
“If men drink coffee during meetings, they may inadvertently damage the cooperative spirit needed to solve complex problems,” they explained.
The experts noted that their research is very meaningful because coffee is one of the most widely used substances worldwide. People around the world drink billions of cups of coffee every day. Coffee offers several health benefits, such as preventing diabetes and memory loss, reducing kidney damage, and even helping against gout.
Moreover, drinking coffee during meetings has become a habit for many people. In most of the world’s most important meetings, men are the final decision-makers.
